REASON #1: WE HAVE A RICH HISTORY

Built in 1842, The Casselman was one of the numerous inns along the National Trail to serve the stagecoaches, covered wagons, drivers and riders that made the Old Pike the busiest thoroughfare crossing the mountains. In our 180 years of history, we have been called Drover’s Inn, Farmer’s Hotel, Dorsey’s Hotel and most notably, The Casselman. The Casselman continues now as a second-generation family-owned business. Speaking of history, our bakers have been whipping up a delicious variety of desserts for decades -- including some baked with recipes from when the bakery initially opened its doors! Our bakery even has a window where you can watch the bakers make the bread. We still make each loaf by hand, which ties into our restaurant’s heritage.

We can create any cake, whether it be for a wedding, Mother’s Day, a birthday, anniversary, baby shower or more! However, we request that the order be placed in advance to have your cake ready for you on your special day.

Need to pick up some pies on the way to a reunion or for holiday celebrations? We can help with that, too! At The Casselman, we can create cookie or dessert trays, which are perfect for catered lunches, dinners or celebrations. 

During the holidays, we also have seasonal cookies and cookie trays for purchase. These trays can be mixed and matched with your favorite holiday treats. Some of the cookies offered include sugar cookies and coconut macaroons for Easter and gingerbread cookies, sugar cookies, spiced cookies and more for Christmas.

For Valentine’s Day, we also offer decadent chocolate-covered strawberries for you to gift and share with your special someone, along with heart-shaped cakes.

Located beneath the kitchen and dining room at our restaurant is our large bakery. Visitors are welcome to watch the preparation of our baked goods and smell the aroma as our bakers remove them from the oven.

Just imagine the smell of warm, comforting fresh-baked cinnamon rolls and homemade bread in the oven. That’s the type of experience you can look forward to when you visit The Casselman. Our bakers are hard at work every morning before the sun rises to make sure you have freshly baked goodies. So not only will you find loaves of bread and cinnamon rolls, but you’ll also find fresh baked cookies, pies made entirely from scratch, cakes and more. We take pride in offering this level of freshness and quality to you every day. 

You can enjoy our fresh bakery items at our primary location in Grantsville, Maryland, open Monday through Saturday from 7:00 am - 8:00 pm. It is closed on Sundays. In addition, the Casselman Bakery and Cafe is open Tuesday through Saturday, 7:00 am - 3:00 pm. It is closed on Sundays and Mondays.
