The Casselman River Bridge State Park

The Casselman River Bridge State Park is a popular destination for hikers, photographers and fly fishermen. When the 80 foot Casselman River Bridge was built in 1813 it was the world’s longest single span stone arch bridge in the United States.

New Germany State Park

This state park is often called “the best kept secret of Grantsville.” The park features over 10 miles of trails for hikers, as well as a small lake suitable for fishing, swimming and canoeing.

Savage River State Forest

The Savage River State Forest offers a wide range of activities including biking trails, cross country skiing, campsites, fishing, flat water canoeing, hiking trails, hunting, riding trails, shelters, snowmobiling, white water canoeing.

FLY FISHING

Grantsville is home to some of the best fly fishing the eastern United States has to offer. The Casselman is an excellent river for fishing. It offers areas of both fly fishing only, as well as areas where spin fishing is permitted. The stream is stocked with rainbow trout regularly by the Maryland Division of Natural Resources, providing ample opportunity for anyone to find success.

The Savage River, located in the Savage River State Forest is listed as a top 100 trout stream in the country by Trout Unlimited. The river is routinely stocked with trout, and is home to multiple species of wild trout.
