THE CASSELMAN: WHO WE ARE

Founded in 1842 in the mountains of Garrett County (MD), the Casselman is a historic inn, motel, and restaurant with a long, treasured history of serving travelers and tourists alike. As one of several inns along the National Trail, the Casselman belonged to the Old Pike, catering to stagecoaches and covered wagons on one of the busiest thoroughfares in Western Maryland. 

The Casselman offers its guests a nostalgic and comfortable stay at a historic inn, accompanied by a delicious country meal in the relaxed atmosphere of the inn’s elegant dining room. Today it continues as a second-generation family-owned and operated hotel, and one of the most historic landmarks in western Maryland.

THE CASSELMAN HISTORIC INN

Featuring the two-room Dorsey Suite with custom decor and newly renovated sitting rooms, the classic beauty of antique furnishings and oversized double beds adds a taste of luxury that is otherwise missed in modern hotel designs. 

With hand-hewn timber woodwork and cherry-laden handrails, take a step back in time when booking a suite or room with the Casselman Inn. Each night's stay includes a voucher for a complimentary breakfast in our dining room.. 

THE CASSELMAN MOTEL

The Casselman Motel is a 40-room motel behind the inn and restaurant with the originality of the Casselman Inn. Outfitting the motel are a number of hand-crafted pieces of furniture by local community members and the Miller family, which create a relaxed and homey feeling. 

In addition to the motel, each room features a private bath, TV, coffee maker, microwave, desk, seating, and more. 

THE CASSELMAN INN RESTAURANT & BAKERY

Added in 1973 and comfortably seating 125 people, come and eat in our restaurant’s original dining room with its wooden floor and historic decor. The restaurant's cuisine is simple, country food with a variety of favorite recipes reminiscent of the Pennsylvania Dutch and Amish background of the owners. 

Don’t forget to walk away with our homemade cinnamon rolls, cookies, pies, sweet bread, jams, jellies, and apple butter, all prepared in-house. Visitors are invited to observe the process and aroma of our scratch-made baked goods.

THE CASSELMAN BAKERY & CAFE

Opening in 2018, the Casselman Bakery and Cafe began as an expansion of our tradition of our traditional styled home-baked goods. Located in the heart of Deep Creek Lake, enjoy a slice of heaven in the midst of Garrett County’s most beautiful sites. 

Grab one of our daily lunch specials, along with a full salad bar, fresh baked goods, and other items that are sure to satisfy. The Casselman Bakery and Cafe is open Tuesday through Saturday from 7am-3pm.
