Why You Should Dine at The Casselman Inn Restaurant in Grantsville

Picture this: You're traveling through Grantsville, Maryland, and your stomach starts grumbling and bumbling. You know what that means––it's time to eat

Here's our best attempt to encourage you not to stop at the first fast-food sign you see.

The Casselman Inn Restaurant is a must-stop destination. From a variety of home-cooked meals to our delicious desserts and friendly staff, we're confident that after your first visit, you'll become a "regular" in no time.

REASON #1: HISTORIC MEETING PLACE

The Casselman was built in 1842 as one of several inns along the National Trail. The inn served stagecoaches, covered wagons, drovers, and riders, making the Old Pike one of the busiest thoroughfares that crossed through the mountains.

The Dorsey family added a kitchen in 1903, and after Ivan and Della Miller acquired the location in 1964, the business quickly outgrew its square footage. Over the years, the Millers added a dining room, antique shop, bakeshop, and forty-unit motel. The inn and its constituent businesses continue as an important historic landmark in Western Maryland.

REASON #2: REMINISCENT OF THE GOOD OL' DAYS

The Casselman's cuisine is a combination of simple, country food with a variety of favorites from the Pennsylvania-Dutch and Amish background of the owners. Customers also can eat in the original dining room with its wooden floor and historic decor or in the "new" dining room, which was added in 1973. The new dining room comfortably seats 125 people.

REASON #3: THE FOOD

Why else should you eat at the Casselman? The food, of course! The Casselman Restaurant is a decades-long staple in the area, and to this day, our bakers continue to whip up delicious desserts, baked goods, and homemade bread from scratch by hand.

Here are some of our customer's favorites

Homemade Bread and Apple Butter

Every time you dine with us, you'll be served our warm, homemade bread and homemade apple butter.

Hot Turkey Sandwich

One of our most loved and popular items on the menu is our hot turkey sandwich. The turkey is slow-roasted, covered in gravy made from pan drippings, and served on our delicious homemade bread.

The Reuben

Our Reuben is stacked high with corned beef, swiss cheese, sauerkraut, and 1,000 island dressing, sandwiched in between two buttery, grilled slices of marble rye bread.

Colossal Cinnamon Roll

One of the most popular breakfast items is the colossal cinnamon roll. Baked fresh daily in our bakery below the restaurant, this delicious, giant cinnamon roll is served hot and is topped with maple or vanilla frosting.
